    Dealer Notes

The 2022 Subaru Impreza Base is a practical, safe, and confidence-inspiring compact care specially appealing in a place like Michigan City where winter weather demands traction and reliability. Even with around 62,000 miles, it delivers a blend of capability, comfort, and value that's rare for an entry-level model.

    1. Standard All-Wheel Drive

Unlike most compact sedans, the Impreza comes with Subarus Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard. This is one of its greatest strengths offering superior traction on wet, snowy, or rough roads. For Michigan and Indiana drivers, this feature means better control and safety during year-round conditions. The AWD system works seamlessly, giving you extra stability without sacrificing smoothness.

    2. Strong Safety Reputation

Subaru has built a reputation for top-tier safety, and the 2022 Impreza continues that legacy. It earned high crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS, thanks to its reinforced frame, stability control, and extensive airbag coverage. Even the base model includes a rearview camera, traction control, and a well-designed safety cage. Subarus engineering focus on safety makes this vehicle an especially smart buy for commuters, first-time drivers, or small families.

    3. Comfort and Interior Space

Inside, the Impreza surprises with a roomy and well-laid-out cabin. With over 100 cubic feet of passenger volume, the sedan feels open and comfortable, while the materials and seat design remain durable. The ride quality is smooth for its class the suspension handles rough pavement well, and road noise is kept low. Despite its base-trim simplicity, its refined enough for long daily drives.

    4. Technology and Connectivity

Subaru includes useful tech features even on the base trim. The touchscreen infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, letting you easily connect your smartphone for navigation, calls, and music. Bluetooth, power windows and mirrors, and USB ports are all standard. You get essential modern tech without paying extra for higher trims.

    5. Fuel Efficiency & Reliability

For an AWD car, the Impreza achieves respectable fuel economy around 28 mpg city / 36 mpg highway (sedan, CVT). That efficiency, combined with Subarus reputation for long-term reliability, makes it a smart investment for everyday use.

    6. Value and Depreciation

Because its already past its steepest depreciation phase, this 2022 Impreza Base offers strong value for money. You're paying a used-car price for a vehicle that still feels modern complete with AWD, current safety features, and great practicality. Subarus also tend to hold their resale value better than many rivals due to their loyal following and rugged reputation.

    7. Everyday Usability

Finally, the Impreza excels in daily versatility. Its easy to park, efficient to drive, and confident in any season. Whether used for work commuting, college, or family errands, it handles a wide variety of driving needs comfortably and economically. Its compact size hides an impressive level of capability, making it a great all-around vehicle.

    • I don't understant the negative reviews

First, I want to say this is a legitimate review of my 2018 Subaru Impreza with 21, 445 miles. I am not paid or sponsoring anyone, like so many reviews these days, etc. I really don't get the negative reviews. I really love this car and the way it drives. I didn't purchase this car thinking it will drive like a Porsche 911, Ferrari, or an American muscle car. Come on people, it's a 2-liter engine that has 150 horsepower. Stop whining! People are so picky and complain about the slightest things. I read reviews here that the Civic and the Corrolla were better. Before I decided on this car, I test drove both of them... I hated the Civic's transmission and the overall feeling of the car. Regarding the Corolla, I felt it was too boring. In my opinion, I think the regular standard Impreza (without the manual padel shifters) runs great and on the highway, it is very smooth, responsive, and has plenty of pep. I really prefer this CVT to the one in the Impreza Sport and Crosstrek. After doing a lot of research on the FB20 motor it seems the FB201 and FB202 had issues with burning oil and Subaru seems to have resolved this issue on the FB203. I purchased the car about 2 months ago and have put on it 4,000 miles and the oil is still full... Yes, I know that my car doesn't have many miles and this problem can arise later. Only time will tell... I will just change the oil every 3,000 to 4,000 miles rather than the recommended 6,000 miles from Subaru. I would also like to add, I feel very safe in this car because of the AWD system and it handles great, even better than the Crosstrek version.
    • Exactly what I wanted

I needed a reliable AWD vehicle on the smaller side with good gas mileage. I'm very happy, it's exactly what I wanted. The eyesight system works perfectly and is something you might expect only on a much more expensive car.
    • I leased my Imprezza for 3 yrs.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Imprezza. Comfortable, smooth ride, plenty of power, good gas mileage, and handles well. I am even thinking of buying out the car instead of re leasing.
